Dentistry for me represents the possibilities in dreaming. Becoming a dentist was a dream I had from when I was five years old. With hard work, dedication, mentorship, and sacrifices, I was able to bring to fruition something that I was passionate about.
I love practicing in my hometown. There are so many ways that I affect the lives of Bahamians by being in the field. With an amazing team and our dedication, each day that we get to interact with our patients is a great one.
I am a 2003 graduate of Fisk University with a BA in biology, and a 2007 graduate of Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry, both of which are in Nashville, Tennessee. Although I completed my formal education in the United States, I decided to move back to the Bahamas because I love my country: It is my home! I am delighted to bring about a heightened awareness of dental health here. I have been able to change the lives of so many people just with proper instructions about how to care for their smile.
I gained an excellent foundation of knowledge in dental school, but practicing dentistry at a high level requires continual study. I attend SPEAR Education, Hinman Dental Society meetings, and annual dental meetings through the American Dental Association and the Bahamas Dental Association in order to keep myself updated with the newest techniques, ideas, and concepts. My objective is to offer cutting-edge care to my patients, which requires a lifetime dedication to learning.
My husband Calvin Davis is my rock. We have a beautiful and lively daughter, Canaan, who keeps our home filled with fun and laughter! I have a dog who also keeps our home animated. My sisters are my best friends. They along with my parents, Wellington and Grace Francis, have always served as a strong support system for me along my journey.
When I’m not at work, I am spending time with my family or having brunch with friends. I enjoy travelling and absolutely love reading.
My activity in the community is a reflection of my personal commitment to improving the lives of those around me. I am passionate about self-development and work at it daily, and enjoy mentoring younger persons, especially students who aspire to work in the dental field.
I have been the chairperson for the FDI World Dental Federation’s World Oral Health Day Committee in the Bahamas several times. This is a day filled with fun, entertainment, education, giveaways, and free dental screenings for the public. I have participated in mission trips to our smaller family of islands to provide free dental services, and enjoy going out into the local community to offer free dental screening and education.
I hope that you will join our family of patients and empower your life with your best smile.
